About the group
The Department of Plant Evolutionary Biology (formerly Biochemistry and Evolution of Plant Secondary Metabolism) aims to elucidate the genetic and genomic basis of speciation and the origin of plant diversity, to understand plant evolutionary development and the molecular basis of adaptation to biotic selection agents, as well as phylogenetic, ecological and population genetic underpinnings of ecological interactions. This endeavour is focused upon the role of chemical and developmental floral traits in pollinator-driven evolution..
The Department places special emphasis upon orchid evolutionary biology.
